Artesa: A Taste of Barcelona in Napa Valley

This past week Mr. Wine Cutie and I decided to make an impromptu trip to Napa. You know, our favorite place on earth!

As you may have read previously in “The Wineries of Netflix’s Wine Country,” we went to Artesa Estate Vineyards and Winery last November during the Bute County fire. We loved our wine experience. However, we weren’t able to enjoy the scenery and wanted to make it back. After watching Netflix’s Wine Country and seeing how beautiful the view is, I wanted to go back ASAP!

We finally made it back last week, and let me tell you it didn’t disappoint, even a little!

As we turned left onto Artesa’s property, we realize how crazy hazy it was when we were here in November. The sky is so blue and the vineyards so vibrant and beautiful. As we drive up, I turned to Mr. Wine Cutie and said, “Whoa! I thought it was beautiful the last time we were here, but this is BREATHTAKING!”

The sun is shining as we park and get out of our car.

We check-in with the valet and begin walking up the stairs to Artesa’s tasting room. Wine Cutie note: as you walk up, make sure to turn around and take in the view. Holy moly guacamole! The blue skies, the green hills, the vines, everything about this vineyard is beautiful!

Once we reach the top of the stairs, we stopped and took in the view. It’s AMAZEBALLS! In the distance, I think I see the Salesforce Tower in San Francisco, but I keep thinking, I’m so far away, can that really be the city I’m seeing?

We walk into the tasting room, see the hostess who takes us to our table, outside on the terrace! I love tasting wine outside. Mr. Wine Cutie and I chose different tastings this time, the Aromatic Tasting and the Single Vineyard Tasting. As we’re sitting, looking at the views, I again think I’m seeing San Francisco in the distance. I ask this time, and I was right! I am seeing the Salesforce Tower in San Francisco. I was so excited I posted a story on my Instagram.

Let’s get to the wine!

My favorite wine is definitely still the 2018 Albariño, it’s so light, peach on the nose and in the mouth, some minerality and is straight up delicious. Artesa is releasing a cool new exciting Albariño at the end of June. Why so cool, you ask? Because the Albariño will be fermented in a concrete egg, hopefully leading to a richer and fuller bodied wine. I am beyond excited to try this! Mr. Wine Cutie and I will definitely be back to try the Artesa Albariño, concrete egg-style.

The standout wine from the Aromatic Tasting was the 2018 Rosado. It was light, fresh, and tasted like hibiscus tea. I loved it so much that we bought three bottles immediately. Because you know, “rosé all day!” Also, I’m learning that we buy a lot of rosé, and I’m not sad about it.

Artesa take two was a fantastic time and a perfect way to end our impromptu Napa trip!

Until next time Cuties, keep tasting!
